About.com
(www.about.com)
has joined Flipboard
as the first Web site to provide content across hundreds of topics
within the social magazine. Flipboard now features About.com’s most
popular and timely content, selected from the About.com Twitter feed,
homepage and six content categories: Health,
Travel,
Style,
Parenting,
Food
and Home
& Garden.
The section is fresh and updated frequently, with approximately 50 new
articles each day, and the content is displayed in a visually attractive
and immersive magazine-style reading layout. Relevant articles will also
be added to Flipboard’s hand-curated Living and Travel sections.
"About.com is committed to offering trusted insights and expertise at a
user’s moment of need. As the online experience becomes more mobile, we
are developing products to deliver our content tailored to the format
and the platform on which our users choose to access it,” said Michael
Daecher, senior vice president, new platforms, About.com. "With
Flipboard, we are giving our users a new view of About.com, with a
high-end magazine feel that’s visually engaging and social, and
encourages them to spend more time with our brand. We’re also giving our
advertisers a beautiful full-page ad format in which to showcase their
message to our readers.”
"With About.com we add yet another type of content source to Flipboard,”
said Christina Mace-Turner, head of partner strategy at Flipboard. "Our
readers can now flip through expert pages on a wide range of popular
lifestyle topics.”
About.com is making its selected content available through Flipboard
Pages, an HTML5-based framework that automatically converts web content
into full-page, paginated reading experiences when browsing content with
Flipboard. A launch advertiser is featuring full-page ads within the
section.
