Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that Gooi Soon Chai
has been appointed senior vice president, order fulfillment and supply
chain, effective immediately. In this position, Gooi now leads a new,
centralized organization created to help Agilent leverage its strength
in manufacturing, procurement and logistics across the company’s three
business groups: life sciences, chemical analysis and electronic
measurement.
Gooi will report to Ron Nersesian, Agilent’s chief operating officer.
Gooi was previously vice president and general manager of the electronic
instrument business unit within Agilent’s Electronic Measurement Group
and the vice president and general manager of EMG’s order fulfillment
organization.
"Agilent has enjoyed tremendous success from the strength of its three
businesses,” Nersesian said, "and now we’re building upon that with our
ability to leverage Agilent’s global purchasing power and
infrastructure. This change is about creating an opportunity for the
order-fulfillment leaders in each of these businesses to look for ways
to further leverage work and resources that will ultimately enhance the
customer experience.
"Soon Chai’s experience as the general manager of EMG’s global
order-fulfillment organization, combined with his deep knowledge of
global supply-chain operations, makes him the ideal executive to lead
this organization.”
Gooi joined the company in 1985. He has extensive international
experience, and has managed a diverse portfolio of businesses serving
the general-purpose, semiconductor, board-test and nanotechnology
markets. He established Agilent’s instruments business unit in Asia and
was instrumental in the consolidation and streamlining of order
fulfillment and the global supply chain for the company’s electronic
measurement business.
Gooi holds a bachelor's degree with first-class honors in electrical and
electronics engineering from London University, and a master's degree in
computer engineering from Imperial College London.
