Baby Meets Fashion: Quinny® Collaborates with Danish Multitalent Henrik Vibskov

Dorel Juvenile Group USA (DJG USA), a division of Dorel Industries (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) and the nation’s largest juvenile products manufacturer, announced today that its Quinny brand – the leader in innovative and trendy strollers – is launching a strictly limited edition collection by internationally renowned Danish fashion designer, musical artist and filmmaker Henrik Vibskov. Available in the United States in January 2009, "Quinny by Henrik Vibskov” combines Quinny’s revolutionary technology with Vibskov’s distinct and stylish signature.

"Quinny is an admirer of Vibskov’s endless and relaxed creativity in the world of fashion and musical and fine arts,” said Vinnie D’Alleva, general manager of DJG USA. "With young children as the focal point of this collaboration, Vibskov’s strong connection to the Quinny brand is clearly visible.”

Combining intense prints and bold colors with natural materials and subtle details, Vibskov’s designs for the collection are based on a modern-day fairytale he created. He takes us to a large forest far from civilization, where all kinds of colorful figures who are not accepted in the city come together. These odd figures start playing music in the woods and form a band. Their songs eventually become very popular, the band becomes world famous and through their music, they become accepted by the outside world.

Vibskov translated this fairytale into three crazy prints (Mad, Rainbow and Raindrop) that pop up throughout the entire collection. To counteract the explosions of color, the designer used neutral basic colours like ecru and black. Leather accents accentuate the pure and luxurious character of the items. Vibskov’s signature, which is based on artistry, originality and durability, is unmistakable throughout the collection.

The "Quinny by Henrik Vibskov” collection consists of four items that have been reinterpreted by Vibskov. With its eye-catching design and convenient features, the Quinny Buzz™ stroller is the perfect complement to the modern parent’s lifestyle. Naturally, Vibskov has also redesigned the Quinny Dreami™ bassinet so that baby can be transported in style from day one. The Quinny Zapp™, the smallest folding stroller in the world that can be used with the Maxi-Cosi® Mico™ infant car seat and even comes with its own travel bag, has also undergone a Vibskov metamorphosis. The Quinny Buzz™ footmuff is designed to look like a penguin, again demonstrating Vibskov’s interest in the magical world of children’s imagination. All of these products incorporate the same safety and quality features that parents have come to expect from Quinny.

"It was my pleasure to collaborate with Quinny on this project. I was given the opportunity to work with shapes and materials not usually seen in the juvenile market,” said Vibskov. "Designwise it was very much freestyling with a happy childhood in mind.”

The "Quinny by Henrik Vibskov” collection will be available in January 2009 at a very select number of leading fashion retailers worldwide. Suggested retail prices vary from $139.99 for the footmuff to $1,159.99 for the Buzz stroller.

About Henrik Vibskov

Danish-born designer Henrik Vibskov earned a degree in men's fashion from Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London. Using his talents for film, music and fashion, Vibskov made a name for himself in 2000 and 2001 by winning Beck’s Future Prize for his films The Monk and The Egg. At his graduation show international magazines and newspapers including The Guardian, Dazed and Confused, i-D, The Independent, Purple, Self Service, Numéro and Vogue discovered Vibskov’s flair for fashion. His work has been represented at fashion shows in London and during the Festival Internationale des Arts de la Mode in Hyères, France. A remarkable accomplishment is that – as the only Danish designer – Vibskov also shows at the official Paris Fashion Week schedule. His unique graphic work has become popular among a broad range of audiences, thanks to exhibitions at cultural institutions in Denmark, France, Germany and Japan. Henrik Vibskov’s latest project finished in April 2008, an art exhibition done in collaboration with Andreas Emenius at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. His musical talent, notably as the resident drummer for the band of Anders Trentemoeller, with whom he did a world tour in 2007, adds yet another interesting facet to his creative portrait.
