Blue Coat Helps Establish Quaresso Software

Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:BCSI), the technology leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that it has helped establish Quaresso Software Technologies, Inc. by licensing intellectual property that is instrumental in the creation of on-demand "armored browser” products. Blue Coat retains full ownership of the intellectual property that is covered by three separate patents, and Quaresso will own any derivative works that it creates. Blue Coat previously provided a small amount of seed money to help establish the new company.

Quaresso has developed two products that address the potential security risks browsers present to websites and their users. Protect on Q enables enterprises and organizations to temporarily extend security to a customer’s browser, protecting against losing control of session security and data loss even if the client computer has been already compromised. A second product, MyProtect, is a free, Quaresso-hosted service for consumers that protects the privacy and confidentiality of their Web sessions.
