COPsync, Inc. (OTCQB: COYN), which operates the nation’s largest law
enforcement real-time, in-field information sharing, communication and
data interoperability network, announced that the Mississippi Department
of Public Safety has agreed to conduct a formal evaluation of the
COPsync service.
The company said that the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS)
has agreed to conduct a pilot project to evaluate COPsync’s law
enforcement real-time, in-field information sharing, communication and
data interoperability network. The evaluation of COPsync will be
conducted by the Department of Special Operations, a unit within the
Mississippi Highway Patrol that specializes in criminal interdiction on
the highways, and is expected to last 60 - 120 days.
"Mississippi highway patrol officers will now have the ability to share
information and communicate with fellow officers in real-time at the
point of incident,” said COPsync co-founder Shane Rapp. Mr. Rapp
continued, "For the first time in U.S. law enforcement history, officers
of a state highway patrol will be able to communicate with and share
data in real-time across interstate lines and with local law enforcement
agencies. Mississippi officers will now have a real-time connection
among themselves and to officers of the nearly 220 Texas law enforcement
agencies comprising the COPsync network. We are proud that the
Mississippi Highway Patrol will be the country’s first state highway
patrol to evaluate COPsync’s innovative capabilities.”
"The Mississippi Highway Patrol is very excited to begin evaluating the
COPsync real-time, in-field information sharing and communication
system,” stated Staff Sergeant Brad Vincent of the Mississippi Highway
Patrol’s Special Operations Unit. He continued, "We in Mississippi are
extremely interested in participating in the COPsync network and sharing
information and communicating in real-time with our Texas brethren,
particularly since Interstate 20 connecting our two states is a major
trafficking corridor. We expect this evaluation project to demonstrate
the benefit to law enforcement officers of communicating and sharing
information in real-time, at the point of incident. Our department has
been on the forefront of innovation and advancement within the law
enforcement profession. This pilot project once again demonstrates our
commitment to finding and deploying proactive solutions to combat crime
and interdict criminal behavior.”
A company spokesperson said the evaluation is expected to begin
following the completion of certification testing with the Mississippi
Criminal History telecommunications system. The pilot project is
expected to demonstrate the feasibility of real-time,
multi-jurisdictional and interstate information sharing and
communication and to result in increased officer efficiency.
