Cetelem, an expert in consumer credit and personal loans, is providing
optimal service at reasonable costs with BMC Software’s (NASDAQ: BMC)
Control-M
Workload Automation suite.
Cetelem, employs 1,400 staff members as part of the BNP Paribas network,
and has been ranked by Bloomberg and Forbes as the largest
bank and company in the world by assets. With more than $3.1 trillion in
revenues, Cetelem needed to adopt a workload automation platform to
offer the highest standard of service. By standardizing on
comprehensive, enterprise workload automation with BMC Software, Cetelem
is seamlessly managing batch workloads across the entire Spanish bank,
from a single point of control, and at significantly reduced cost to the
business.
Cetelem faced the challenge of supporting transitioning and evolving
technology to adopt a centralized model across all of its European
operating subsidiaries. BMC’s Control-M Workload Automation solutions
provided a scheduling approach for its burgeoning distributed
environment. Previously, batch control was managed using a fragmented
suite of mainframe-based tools, creating limited visibility into
operations while wasting time and money. Manual processes made errors
more common.
"One of the key business drivers for using the BMC Control-M Workload
Automation suite is agility,” said Juan Carlos Martinez Ruiz,
Operations
Manager at Cetelem. "We can modify the batch processes with the
guarantee that those changes will have no impact on our service; the
quality level is maintained throughout. Another advantage is the
simplicity and flexibility of operation. The easy-to-use graphical
interface enables our team to define conditions and interpret the
schedule — all in a single pane of glass.”
A key benefit of installing the BMC Control-M Workload Automation suite
is that it enables the bank to take advantage of a range of capabilities
required to manage traditional job scheduling, batch service management,
and workload automation for the bank’s virtualized and forthcoming
cloud-enabled environments. This lowered the total cost of ownership,
increased flexibility, and delivered superior value to Cetelem from its
enterprise workload automation.
The Cetelem IT team can now perform a range of tasks via a single
graphical focal point of control, allowing the bank to better plan
future changes to workload, as well as understand the potential impact
of changes on IT and the business. Service level agreements (SLAs) can
now be met with ease and assist expansion plans across to the rest of
the organization.
"The BMC Control-M Workload Automation solution enabled Cetelem to
simplify and automate the entire enterprise workload process — across
both mainframe and distributed environments,” said Ruiz. "The technology
addresses production scheduling from a single point of control, while
also addressing the bank’s security, reliability, availability, and
scalability requirements.”
"Cetelem approached us with issues that often take place in large
organizations, and we were able to offer a complete set of solutions to
address these issues face-on,” said Nick Glover, BMC’s vice president of
EMEA Sales and Services for Mainframe Service Management. "In today’s
environment, it is essential to increase IT efficiency while driving
down costs and supporting a platform for virtualized and cloud-ready
services.”
