Celadon Trucking Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Celadon
Group, Inc. (NYSE:CGI) expanded its innovative "Highway 2 Health”
program with the addition of a full service medical center located at
its Indianapolis headquarters.
The "Highway 2 Health” program was created in 2006 as a partnership
between Celadon and Community Health Network to encourage Celadon’s
employees to take a more proactive role in managing their overall
well-being. Since its inception, the "Highway 2 Health” program has been
instrumental in a variety of company-sponsored health campaigns;
including: employee weight-loss competitions, exercise challenges,
truck-stop friendly meal planning and wellness counseling. The success
of the "Highway 2 Health” program led to Celadon Chairman and CEO Steve
Russell being honored in 2008 as the first person from outside the
medical community to receive the American Heart Association’s
prestigious Cor Vitae award and Celadon being designated as a Gold-Level
Fit-Friendly Company.
With the addition of the medical center, Celadon employees will have
convenient access to primary care services, worker’s compensation
rehabilitation and disease counseling at Celadon’s Indianapolis
headquarters. Scheduled to open April 14, 2011, the medical center will
be staffed with board-certified family practice physicians,
board-certified nurse practitioners and certified athletic trainers.
Primary care services will be provided exclusively to Celadon employees
covered under the company-sponsored health insurance plan. Employees can
take advantage of services with no copay and certain prescriptions will
be provided free of charge for an initial supply.
"Our employees, especially our team of drivers, are Celadon's most
valuable resource,” said Celadon Chairman and CEO Steve Russell. "It is
of the highest importance to keep our people healthy, at work, and on
the road. With this new facility, we are able to provide additional
services and better overall care right here on site, including primary
physician care, prescription services, and physical therapy. We realize
that we have one of the most dedicated work forces in the transportation
industry and opening this medical center is one way we can return that
dedication and continue to invest in our people.”
"The opening of the new medical center and the expanded services of the
medical department represent Celadon’s long-standing commitment to
improving the health and well-being of their employees,” said Steve
Zetzl, Vice President of Infinity Employer Health Solutions. "As we have
witnessed first-hand the financial and social impact of poor health on
people’s lives; the Community Health Network is excited to further our
partnership with Celadon through our combined efforts on this endeavor.”
