Computer Programs and Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPSI), a leading provider
of healthcare information solutions, today announced both its successful
participation in the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) 2010
Connectathon as well as its upcoming participation in the HIMSS10
Interoperability Showcase. This is the fourth time in the past five
years that CPSI has participated in these efforts. The events serve as
valuable tools in CPSI’s ongoing preparation for the interoperability
requirements for "meaningful use” of an electronic health record (EHR)
by hospitals and providers as a result of the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
The IHE 2010 Connectathon, held January 11 - 15 in Chicago, Illinois, is
the healthcare information technology (HIT) industry's largest
electronic medical record (EMR) interoperability testing event. CPSI
participated in testing of its CPSI System; a fully integrated
healthcare information system designed to provide community and
specialty hospitals with a complete EMR. During the Connectathon, IHE
profiles are utilized to test standards-based measures of a healthcare
information system’s ability to accurately communicate with other
external information systems. The CPSI System was not only able to
demonstrate interoperability in compliance with IHE profiles, but also
met the more stringent Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel
(HITSP) federally recognized Interoperability Specifications. The CPSI
System was also recognized as a "secure node” at the event, a
designation indicating that a system as a whole is able to function
securely within a health information exchange.
Building on its success at the IHE Connectathon, CPSI will also be
presenting its healthcare IT solution at the HIMSS10 Interoperability
Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia. The Showcase is part of the 2010 Annual
Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference
& Exhibition from March 1 - 3, 2010. Designed as a Health Information
Exchange (HIE)-based environment, the Showcase includes clinical
scenarios acted out in a live environment over multiple vendor systems
and enabled by the standards-based IHE framework and HITSP
Interoperability Specifications. This will be CPSI’s fourth year as a
participant in the Showcase, and this year the Company has accepted an
expanded role in the clinical scenarios. In addition to its active
participation in the Interoperability Showcase, CPSI will also be
available at HIMSS10 booth #1744 to answer questions and provide
demonstrations of the CPSI System.
