Daimler Still In Talks With Car Makers Including Aston Martin

LUDWIGSBURG, Germany (Dow Jones)--German car maker Daimler AG (DAI) said Wednesday it is still in talks with other car manufacturers - including Aston Martin - on possible cooperation arrangements.

   "It's only logical and smart that one is open to talks when asked," Daimler executive board member Thomas Weber told Dow Jones Newswires.

   With regard to U.K.-based sports car maker Aston Martin, Weber said he sees further market potential in the niche car segment, despite ongoing political discussions on carbon dioxide emissions.

   Last year, Ford Motor Co. (F) sold luxury brand Aston Martin to a consortium of investors including Kuwait's Investment Dar Co. for $925 million. Investment Dar's stake in Aston Martin amounts to 50%.
