Hibernia
Atlantic, the only diverse transatlantic high bandwidth connectivity
provider, today announces it has selected 3Com’s
(Nasdaq: COMS) H3C®
S7500E modular switches to deliver cost-effective Ethernet services
across its transatlantic submarine cable network. Hibernia Atlantic owns
and operates a fast, direct connection between North America and the UK,
Ireland and mainland Europe.
By adding H3C S7500E switches across its network, Hibernia Atlantic will
offer more cost-efficient, Ethernet-based services from multiple 1Mbps
commitments to 10Gbps.
"For quite some time, we have been actively researching our options for
rolling out Ethernet-based MPLS services across our network,” states Derek
Bullock, Vice President of Network Operations, Hibernia Atlantic.
"We tested a variety of solutions from multiple vendors before choosing
H3C S7500E MPLS switches from 3Com. H3C switches differentiate
themselves in terms of price, performance and expandability. They also
have excellent global and local support and services.”
"Our H3C networking solutions lead the industry in terms of technology
and cost efficiency,” continues Ron Sege, President and COO of 3Com.
"They offer large enterprises, ISPs and connectivity providers such as
Hibernia, a new level of energy-efficiency and total cost of ownership
without compromising network performance. This is a key win for us in
the carrier market and will open the door to many similar deployments.”
Hibernia Atlantic’s transatlantic and terrestrial network provides
European and US customers with high bandwidth connectivity with
unparalleled support and service. Hibernia provides a unique network
footprint that avoids traditional, congested waterways, like around
New York City and London, and instead offers ‘security through
diversity’. Hibernia provides dedicated Ethernet and optical level
service up to GigE, 10G and LanPhy wavelengths and traditional SONET/SDH
services. Hibernia Atlantic's cutting-edge network technology offers
enterprise customers, carriers and wholesale customers reliable,
next-generation bundled services at competitive prices.
