Ein sehr wichtiger Punkt hierbei ist die Reduzierung von Abgasemissionen. Immer wieder werden hier von der Regierung neue Gesetze und Normen zur Schonung der Umwelt beschlossen.

Wie bereits erwähnt, ist die Reduzierung von Abgasemissionen ein extrem wichtiger Punkt beim Thema Klima- und Umweltschutz. Und das weltweit! Was genau hat Environmental Solutions Worldwide damit zu tun?
Das Unternehmen verfügt über eine patentierte völlig neuartige und ausgereifte Katalysatorentechnik, die den herkömmlichen Lösungen nachweislich weit überlegen ist!
Die Abgase strömen hierbei durch ein beschichtetes Drahtgeflecht und werden durch die dabei ablaufenden chemischen Reaktionen neutralisiert. Völlig anders als bei den konventionellen Katalysatoren.
Ein klarer Vorteil ist auch, dass sich diese neuartige Technologie sehr leicht in fast alle möglichen Formen bringen lässt, was für die Nachrüstung bestehender Motoren unabdingbar ist. Wenn man sich nun einmal vorstellt, dass nur in Deutschland knapp zwei Million Dieselfahrzeuge in den nächsten Jahren nachgerüstet werden sollen, erkennt man schnell das enorm große Potential von Environmental Solutions Worldwide.

Und es wurden auch schon die ersten Erfolge gefeiert! So bekam man im vergangenen Jahr einen Auftrag in Höhe von 7,4 Mio. US-Dollar vom amerikanischen Militär. Es wurden hier 1000 militärische Amphibienfahrzeuge nachgerüstet! Aus unserer Sicht ist dies aber noch lange nicht alles. Die Chancen für Anschlussaufträge sind hier sehr hoch.
Zum weiteren hat das Unternehmen seine Technologie und somit seine Produkte Ende letzten Jahres den NATO-Streitkräften präsentiert. Auf der Grundlage der bestehenden Erfahrungen des amerikanischen Militärs könnten hier Aufträge in ungeahnten Größenordnungen erfolgen.

Auch das Chartbild sieht klasse aus. Wir stehen bei aktuell 0,82 US-Dollar und somit knapp unter dem Jahreshoch von 0,91 US-Dollar vom März diesen Jahres. Dem Durchbrechen dieser Marke bei weiteren positiven Meldungen seitens des Unternehmens sehen wir sehr optimistisch entgegen.

Interview mit Mr. David J. Johnson, dem Präsidenten und CEO von Environmental Solutions Worldwide

Bitte erklären Sie unseren Lesern die Vorteile ihrer neuartigen Katalysatorentechnik? Worin besteht der Konkurrenzvorsprung Ihrer patentieren Produkte?
The main advantage of our proprietary catalyst technology is its ability to be applied to a very large cross section of diesel powered vehicles and engines. Our metallic based substrates have proven to be extremely durable in very harsh conditions such as mining, construction, locomotive/marine and military applications. Because of the design of the metallic substrate, we can achieve very high reductions in particulate matter along with the other harmful gases like, hydrocarbons and carbon dioxides

Umweltschutz und Reduzierung von Abgasemissionen gehört mittlerweile selbst in den USA zur politischen Tagesordnung. Welche Bedeutung hat dieser weltweite Bewusstseinswandel für Ihre Produkte?
It is a very important time for ESW today with the awareness programs and new government regulations which are being enforced in the worldwide market. The air quality in many populated cities and countries because of the pollution being emitted from engines burning fossil fuels has reached a near critical point. With the constant smog-alert warnings being issued on hot days in the major cities, and the strain this situation is putting on public health, governments must act now with enforced regulations. These new regulations have paved the way for Company’s like ESW, with technologies engineered to reduce these pollutants, to take advantage of this emerging market.

Welche Bedeutung hat die Zuschussbewilligung in Höhe von 250.000 US$ von der NTRD für die XTRM Cat(TM) Katalysatorentechnologie für Ihr Unternehmen?
This is a very important program for ESW. We have been working in the development stages of a catalyst which would be durable enough to operate in this extreme application. This money is the first stage of grants and has come to us because of the success of the past locomotive programs that we have been working on with the Boston Transit group and the South West Research. There are currently over 20,000 diesel powered locomotives operating in North America alone without any form of aftertreatment device being used. The government is now starting new regulations to bring emission reductions to this very important sector of the transportation market, and we believe we are on the leading edge of development for the needed solutions. The second aspect of this program is designed around the cross application of our catalyst device to the marine engine market. Marine vehicles such as tug-boats and ferries also use the same diesel engine as locomotives. This new market is also being regulated by the government.

Herr Johnson, ESW Canada hat einen 7,4 Mio. USD-Auftrag von den US-Marines erhalten. Bitte erzählen Sie uns mehr von dem Deal.
This was a very interesting project for our Company. The US Marines were looking for a new technology based muffler for their LAV-25 class of vehicle. This new catalyzed muffler system needed to be compact, durable, reduce sound, smoke and heat generated by the diesel engine. Our team of engineers developed a system which met and excided the needs of the application in creating the Stlth Cat™ muffler. The system was thoroughly tested by the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) and passed in every level. Based on the success of the testing of the Stlth Cat™, in August of 2006, we received an order from International Truck and Engine Corporation (International®) for 1000 Stlth Cat(TM) catalytic muffler systems, in a $2.85m TACOM contract.
Based on the success of the Stlth Cat™ product, ESW engineered and designed an Infrared / Heat Shielding system to further enhance stealth and reduce the overall signature of the LAV. Again, the system was thoroughly tested by TACOM. Subsiquent to the finalized test program, ESW was commisioned to produce 1000 Scat-IR-Shield’s™ for $7.4 million USD applications on all eight models of the US Marine LAV.

Im November 2006 hatten Sie eine Präsentation ihres Stlth Cat™, TempMax™ und des neue Scat-IR-Shield™ Systems vor den Delegierten der NATO-Länder. Wie wahrscheinlich ist es, dass ESW noch weitere Aufträge des US-Militärs oder gar der internationalen NATO-Streitkräfte erhält?
In November of 2006, I was invited to participate in the 5th Annual Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) & Stryker Summit held in Arlington, VA. There, I was honored to give a comprehensive presentation on the Stlth Cat(TM), the new Scat-IR-Shield(TM) and TempMax(TM) system to the NATO country military delegates in attendance. The response from the attendees to the presentation and technologies showcased on display was outstanding. Shortly after this event, we recieved the $7.4 million USD contract to provide systems for all eight models of the US Marine LAV fleet. Since this time, we have been in contact with a number of the NATO country military groups and are currently presenting our complete portfolio of products. We are also continuing to work with TACOM on a number of opportunities.

Verfügen Sie über ausreichende Produktionskapazitäten oder ist eine Ausweitung der Kapazitäten geplant?
We currently have a 4700 square meter high volume manufacturing facility located in Concord, Ontario, Canada. This location houses our corporate offices, advanced engineering and global sales for the Company’s products and services. This “State of the Art” facility is fully equipped to manufacture in excess of 1m catalysts per year. Incorporated into this plant is high speed wire knitting machines, belt ovens, coating systems and packaging. In our metal shop division, we are outfitted with robotic welding stations and complete metal fabrication equipment to perform all levels of manufacturing related to our product lines. Expansion of the current facilities is possible into surrounding buildings within our building complex. This type of expansion we believe will eventually be needed as our customer demands outweighs our current capabilities to deliver within the required timelines based on their needs.

Wer gehört noch zu ihren Kunden?
We are currently working with a much diversified group of companies and have set up key distribution partners in all of the sectors of the market in a multitude of countries around the world.
We are working with International® in the North American market for On-Road applications of our product lines such as school & transit buses, waste haulers and delivery trucks. We have also worked with International® in the past with various products in our military portfolio.
For the Construction market we are working with RECAT based in California where the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has brought in and is enforcing new emissions regulations. We are working with Filter Testing Services and Evapar in the distribution of our mining products. This sizeable market is now coming under new strict regulations by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
In the European market we are working with the German based PURItech. PURItech has proven itself as being a valuable partner in the key German, Austrian and Italian markets for On-Road and Off-Road opportunities. Working with PURItech, we have co-developed products to service European OEM’s and have now started to market these products to our North American OEM’s and distributors for retrofit applications.
We are working with Hudson Engineering in the Indian marketplace in a catalyst development program targeting the thousands of very old fleets of trucks and buses. This is a massive emerging market opportunity for the company that brings a technology to their aid which delivers meaningful emission reductions.

Der zweite Geschäftsbereich von ESW umfasst Test- und Zertifizierungsdienstleistungen für Abgasuntersuchungen. Welcher Umsatz wird hier generiert und wie sehen hier mögliche Expansionspläne aus?
We are very fortunate to have our own Tech Center which is capable of performing the necessary test protocols for aftertreatment devices and engines for the North American market. This extremely well outfitted facility also provides the Company with its needed research and development of the current product offerings as well as future technologies that are in the works.
The Tech Center is now just being marketed to the community offering its services and has started to acquire customers for both engine certifications as well of product performance verification. Given the current backlog and waiting lists of available testing slots at our competitors and government sponsored emission test labs, our expectations for this division of the Company is very high. Now that the Tech Center is fully operational, the short term goal is to turn it into a full fledged profit center.
Once we reach capacity, further expansion within the current Tech Center can be easily and affordably done utilizing the buildings existing infrastructure. The facility was designed with this in mind.

Wie sieht die finanzielle Situation des Unternehmens im Moment aus und für wann rechnen Sie mit dem ersten Gewinn?
ESW had a very good year in 2006 with a very strong 4th quarter with sales in excess of $3 million USD. In 2007, the 1st quarter was the strongest quarter in the Company’s history with sales in excess of $3.3 million USD sales which represents a 1,315% increase over the same period last year with a net income of $854,000 USD on a cash basis. In essence, we did more in sales in the 1st quarter this year than we did in the complete year of 2006. Include in this, the fact that we have had on the books purchase Orders in excess of $9 USD million before the end of the 1st quarter and it’s clear to see that we are on course to have a record year.

Acquiring future financing for continued growth through acquisitions is always a possibility. There is a number of very good products that could have their place in this market, but without the exposure to major customers, distribution chains or access to the economies of scale high volume manufacturing brings, their impact in this industry will be minimum is if at all. We have what we believe is an excellent foundation to continue to grow this company through such acquisitions and leap over the associated costs and the years of research and development it has taken to bring these technologies to their current state. Diversification in our market is an important factor. Steady continuous growth tied to new product offerings helps to keep up with the demands of your customers and distribution partners.

Was möchten Sie, Herr Johnson, ihren deutschen Investoren noch mitteilen?
I would like to tell your German investors to continue to follow our Company as we grow. ESW is a Company that has many projects in process and most of these projects has been years in to workings. What you are witnessing here today is the culmination of years of research and development, field trials and demonstration programs on a multitude of products. Today we are starting to see the fruits of these labours as these programs reach maturity. Research and development is still a very important aspect of our Company, but we have reached a point where these products and services are starting to be sold. The current emissions control market is a $40 billion dollar industry with forecasts of $87 billion annually by the year 2010. We believe ESW will be a strong player in this growing market and a major contributor to bringing cleaner air quality globally in the years to come.
