In-Stat Announces Management Buyout and Spins Off from Reed Business Information

In-Stat announced today both the completion of a management buyout and backing from consumer and retail information leader The NPD Group. In-Stat (http://www.in-stat.com) announced that it has spun off as an independent company from former owner Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier. Privately held In-Stat continues with its tenured management and highly respected analysts.

The management buyout was led by Mark Kirstein, In-Stat CEO. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. "As a nimble, independent and reputable market research firm, we see this change as a tremendous opportunity to better serve our customers with industry leading research focused on the Digital Entertainment and Mobile Internet ecosystems,” said Kirstein. "The NPD Group’s backing of, and alliance with, our business will accelerate our ability to execute on our vision and open new strategic opportunities for both companies.”

"We, and the industry, have long recognized In-stat as a provider of high quality information and insight,” noted Tod Johnson, Chairman and CEO of The NPD Group. "Our new relationship with In-Stat will allow us to work together to offer broader and deeper knowledge to business decision makers in the Wireless and Entertainment industries as the marketplace changes and grows at an unprecedented pace.”
