BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC),
the leader in Business
Service Management, today announced second generation service
solutions designed to help IT professionals avoid many of the risks
of cloud deployment, while maximizing the potential rewards. These
proven services result in a comprehensive cloud deployment plan that
guides customers through the planning and design steps that are vital to
successful cloud implementations.
Proper cloud planning and design, particularly when undertaken in the
context of a holistic approach to Business Service Management, can make
the difference between a cloud that empowers the business for future
growth and a cloud that sets the business back in terms of cost, service
availability and scalability.
"Leading a cloud project can be a confusing venture,” said Ronni
Colville, VP and distinguished analyst at Gartner Inc. "High level
planning makes a lot of sense and insulates IT organizations against
lost investment, time and business productivity.”
"Betting on cloud computing to deliver expected business outcomes
without expert design is a gamble. Our experience on hundreds of cloud
projects across the globe continues to reinforce the value of proper
cloud planning and design in any cloud initiative. Our track record for
helping our customers deliver clouds that meet their company’s exploding
demands for business services is unmatched," says Carlos Granda, BMC’s
VP of Global Services.
BMC's services offering initiates with two- to three-week cloud planning
workshops to develop and design the cloud services, architecture and
roadmap for customers. Organizations such as Duke Energy, JDA Software
and Bezeq International have taken advantage of the BMC Cloud Solution
Planning workshops to achieve their goals.
"Working with the BMC team, we were able to design a cloud that makes
good use of our existing technology investments as well as meets the
needs of our business users,” said Brian Cooper, manager of IT
Automation at Duke Energy. "While just embarking on our cloud project,
we have great confidence in its transformative benefits for our
business.”
"Recently we worked with a large financial services customer. While
their executives had great expectations for their cloud, the IT team was
struggling to map out a roadmap to deliver against that directive,”
explains Alan Chhabra, BMC director of cloud and data center automation
consulting services. "After three weeks of work with all of the key
stakeholders, we jointly developed a plan that not only met the needs of
management and the business pre- and post-production, but also optimized
the company’s existing and future IT investments.”
Each cloud planning workshop produces a detailed, phased 18-month cloud
roadmap and uses a case design document which includes resource
requirements, a project timeline and a financial investment summary. The
planning exercise then defines the cloud’s reference architecture and
creates the management and operational policies necessary to run the
cloud to meet business objectives.
Additionally, this service helps ensure a seamless transfer of existing
resources to a cloud environment when coupled with the BMC
Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping as well as the BMC
Capacity Optimization solutions to discover existing resources and
services.
BMC’s cloud solutions also benefit from a strategic alliance with Cisco
that includes recently
announced plans to support the Cisco® Network Services manager. This
partnership, which includes more than 25 successful joint cloud
customers such as Telstra, is building the next generation of hybrid and
public clouds through innovative networking enhancements and management
solutions.
