Ingersoll-Rand
plc (NYSE:IR), a world leader in creating and sustaining safe,
comfortable and efficient environments, is pleased to announce the
appointment of Robert L. Katz as senior vice president and general
counsel, effective November 1, 2010. He joins Ingersoll Rand from
Federal-Mogul Corporation where he served for four years as senior vice
president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
Katz succeeds Patricia Nachtigal who will stay with the company during a
transition period and retire in late December 2010. Nachtigal has been
with Ingersoll Rand for 31 years, serving as general counsel for the
last 19 years.
"We thank Pat for her years of outstanding service and many
contributions to our company, and wish her well,” said Michael W.
Lamach, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ingersoll
Rand. "Pat has been instrumental in our company’s portfolio
transformation from a heavy equipment manufacturer to a diversified firm
serving commercial, residential and industrial markets worldwide. Along
the way, she also developed a talented global legal team and built a
strong culture of compliance and governance that will be her legacy at
Ingersoll Rand.
"Now we welcome Bobby Katz to the team,” Lamach added. "Bobby’s breadth
of global experience, 24 years of high-level business, legal and
leadership success, and deep expertise in compliance and corporate
transactions make him a strong fit for us. As Ingersoll Rand continues
on its path to becoming a premier global industrial firm, Bobby will
play a critical role with responsibility for all of our legal affairs
worldwide.”
Katz will report to Lamach as part of his executive leadership team and
relocate to Davidson, N.C.
Prior to joining Federal-Mogul, Katz was general counsel and regional
compliance officer for Delphi Corporation’s Europe, Middle East and
Africa (EMEA) operations, headquartered in Paris. In his seven-year
tenure with Delphi, Katz established and led the EMEA legal department,
following Delphi’s spin-off from General Motors in 1999.
From 1996 to 1998, Katz served as assistant general counsel for General
Motors (Europe) AG, at its European headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
As a member of the General Motors legal staff serving all European
operations, Katz focused on transactions and investments in Eastern
Europe. He began his career as an associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley &
McCloy from 1986 to 1995 where he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions
and General Corporate Group, both in New York and London.
Katz earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a Bachelor of Civil Law
(B.C.L.) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1986, graduating
magna cum laude.
