LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU and Euronext Paris)
dedicated to serving the U.S. government community, announced today it
had been chosen as one of the Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems 2009
Supplier Excellence Award recipients.
The award was presented to LGS earlier this month to recognize suppliers
who demonstrate a commitment to consistent quality, on-time delivery,
safety and investment in process improvement initiatives.
Throughout 2009 LGS has been working closely with Raytheon on the
Landing Platform Dock 17 (LPD17) Program by supplying Alcatel-Lucent
enterprise networking solutions with the award winning OmniSwitch
9700 for the core and the energy efficient OmniSwitch
6850 for the edge. The LPD17 program supports the San Antonio class,
which is the latest class of amphibious force ship for the United States
Navy.
"LGS works each day to deliver communications networking equipment to
support the growing information demands of our maritime personnel both
in port and at sea,” said Mark Wendorf, director of Naval business
development at LGS. "Amphibious naval ships serve as a centralized
deployment hub and communications center for operations in trouble spots
around the world.”
