Lenovo,
the world’s No. 2 PC company (HKSE: 0992) (Pink Sheets: LNVGY), and Southwest
Airlines today bid bon voyage to comedian and actor Owen
Benjamin as he sets out to do what no passenger has done before –
visit the most airports in a month and set a new RecordSetter
record as the world’s most frequent flyer.
Equipped with a Lenovo
IdeaPad Tablet K1, a witty sense of humor and a boarding pass, Owen
today embarks on a record-breaking adventure that spans airports across
the Southwest Airlines network. In doing so, Owen will break the world
record for the most unique airports visited in a month.
Lucky passengers traveling on Southwest Airlines from Los Angeles to New
York and everywhere in between can witness Owen’s record breaking feat
first-hand in Southwest gate areas and on flights. For everyone else,
Owen will post daily updates on the Funny on the Fly website at www.flyingfunny.com.
Using the #FunnyontheFly
hashtag, Southwest passengers and curious fans can interact with Owen
along the way, asking questions ranging from grooming tips using airport
restrooms to where to find the best airport munchies.
"On the Fly” Activities and Prizes
Along the way, Owen will earn thousands of Rapid Rewards points, and
customers can enter to win them through the Funny
on the Fly web site. Visitors can also sign up once a day for the
entire month to win cool prizes like a ThinkPad
Tablet and roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines. Daily winners
will be announced via the Funny
on the Fly web site. Owen will also give away $25 Office
Depot gift cards to lucky travelers.
Owen will also put his ‘Funny on the Fly’ skills to the test, treating
fellow passengers to a daily impromptu five minute stand-up act and
later share video footage on the Funny on the Fly website.
A Traveler’s Best Friend
It can get lonely up in the air, so Owen will rely on his trusty IdeaPad
Tablet K1 to stay connected to family, friends and fans from 35,000
feet. Whether he’s tweeting, posting pictures, creating videos, chatting
with friends or playing games, Owen can do it all with his IdeaPad
Tablet K1 – the ultimate travel companion. Consumers can check out the
IdeaPad Tablet K1 on the Office Depot website
and at nationwide retail store locations, the official retail
destination for Funny on the Fly.
Supporting Quotes
"Funny on the Fly perfectly demonstrates how people use our products
everyday to get more done, whether it’s a corporate executive relying on
a ThinkPad laptop as he/she jet-sets around the world, a student using
an Idea product for entertainment between classes, or a daredevil
putting our products’ ruggedness to the test,” said David Rabin,
marketing director for North America, Lenovo. "Owen is one of our
honorary DOers, using the IdeaPad Tablet K1 on his journey, and we’re
rooting for him to accomplish his dream of gaining world’s "most
frequent flyer” status and making us laugh along the way.”
"We’re thrilled to host Owen in our terminals and on our planes as he
achieves this new world record,” said Andy Allmann, director of National
Strategic Partnerships, Southwest Airlines. "We offer nonstop flights
around the country and, while we’re certainly proud of our current
in-flight entertainment, we’re excited to offer Owens’ talents to our
passengers for the next month. As we like to say, "Grab your bag, Owen.
It’s on!”
"As a comedian, I like to inject the fun in every situation,” said
comedian Owen Benjamin. "With Funny on the Fly, I’m taking that to a
whole new level, hopping from Southwest terminal to terminal with
nothing but a few good laughs, my IdeaPad Tablet K1 and a carry-on. And
when I’m not doing standup, I stay productive with the Tablet K1 by
recording new ideas for upcoming comedy sets, downloading movie scripts,
watching videos, and even tweeting sweet pics of my dog Benny.”
