WHAT:
The holiday season is usually a time of happiness, yet for some, it is a
time of increased struggle and stress in trying to meet significant and
unmet needs. To help spread some holiday magic to those in need,
MoneyGram launched a round-the-world relay to support the educational
needs of children across eight countries and four continents.
MoneyGram’s "Spreading Holiday Magic” program is a relay-style program
in which the company will distribute money, much-needed school supplies
and learning tools to 11 schools in eight countries. The relay
kicked-off at an elementary school in Dallas, Texas, home to MoneyGram’s
global headquarters, and will stop at Our Lady of Victory Catholic
School in Compton on Dec. 15, 2011, for a special event, during which
MoneyGram and its community partner Nix Check Cashing (now Nix
Financial) will present the school with supplies for each student.
MoneyGram also will present a $10,000 donation to the school and help
the children send online holiday greetings to children at the next
school in the global relay during the event.

BACKGROUND:
"Spreading Holiday Magic” is part of MoneyGram’s Global Giving program
in which the company gives approximately $500,000 each year to
non-profit organizations around the world for essential education
services.
