Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV), a global software innovator
delivering all-Internet Protocol (all-IP) mediation and messaging
solutions, today announced the appointment of Anne Brennan as interim
chief executive officer, effective Sept. 9, 2011. Ms. Brennan will
continue in her current position as senior vice president and chief
financial officer. The Openwave Board has launched a search for a new
CEO and is seeking to complete the process expeditiously.
Brennan succeeds Ken Denman, who served as Openwave president and CEO
since 2008 and has resigned for personal reasons, effective Sept. 9,
2011.
Charles E. Levine, who was Chairman of the Openwave Board on Sept. 9,
2011, provided the following remarks regarding Mr. Denman’s departure:
"The Openwave Board believes we have the right team to drive forward our
strategic plan as we search for a permanent CEO. The Board would like to
thank Ken Denman for his leadership in creating and driving the
turnaround plan which, over the past two years, has positioned the
company to deliver value to shareholders. During his tenure as CEO, Ken
completely rearchitected Openwave’s product strategy, focusing the
business on two core all-Internet Protocol (All-IP) platforms in
mediation and messaging. He led the launch of numerous new products, as
well as the development and launch of the program to pursue patent
licensing agreements from multiple parties. The new CEO will be tasked
with continuing to move these strategic initiatives forward and drive
the company toward profitability.”
