Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source
solutions, today announced "Red Hat Cloud, HP Edition,” a private cloud
design and reference architecture that combines Red Hat Cloud solutions
with HP CloudSystem, HP Cloud Maps and technology services to enable
customers to build Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds today.
"Cloud computing is defining the next chapter in the successful
partnership Red Hat enjoys with HP,” said Scott Crenshaw, vice president
and general manager, Cloud Business at Red Hat. "Together, we’re able to
offer a private cloud on a converged infrastructure that not only meets
business expectations of dynamic, instantly available resources, but
offers the open, cost-optimizing and high-performance infrastructure
that Red Hat and HP have been delivering in the marketplace for over a
decade.”
"Organizations building private clouds in their datacenters are looking
to speed innovation and reduce time to revenue,” said Paul Miller, vice
president, Solutions and Strategic Alliances, Enterprise Servers,
Storage and Networking at HP. "By combining HP CloudSystem, HP
Consulting Services and Red Hat Cloud solutions, organizations can
quickly design, build and manage an enterprise private cloud from
infrastructure to applications.”
The new Red Hat Cloud, HP Edition offering builds on Red Hat Cloud
Foundations, which combines the technology leadership of Red Hat
solutions, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization, JBoss Enterprise Middleware and Red Hat Network
Satellite, to help customers build IaaS clouds. The performance,
scalability and robust developer/application ecosystem delivered by Red
Hat Enterprise Linux have made it a compelling operating platform for
running applications in the cloud. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization was
architected from the beginning to address the performance, security and
Quality of Service (QoS) challenges that multi-tenancy creates and to
meet enterprise requirements for cloud adoption and trust. Red Hat
Network Satellite makes the provisioning and distribution of virtual
appliances simple and easier, across a diverse set of capacity.
The offering includes several elements of HP’s Hybrid Delivery Cloud
solutions, including HP CloudSystem Matrix, a platform for private
clouds that reduces the time it takes customers to provision complex
infrastructure and applications. HP CloudSystem Matrix offers HP Cloud
Maps, which can be imported directly into client cloud environments,
enabling them to more rapidly build a catalog of cloud services for the
business. HP Cloud Maps are available for Red Hat environments running
Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware. The HP Cloud
Map for JBoss Enterprise Middleware includes a template to automate the
infrastructure provisioning and deployment for JBoss Enterprise
Middleware, which speeds application deployment and reduces risk by
providing engineered, tested and proven configurations.
The solution includes services from Red Hat and HP Technology Consulting
to help customers design, deploy and support cloud environments,
including HP Cloud Consulting and Infrastructure Services, HP Cloud
Discovery Workshop, HP Cloud Roadmap Service and HP Cloud Design Service.
