Priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN) announced today the launch of Price Maps,
a new hotel mapping service that helps travelers quickly find their
perfect hotel by scrolling over interactive city maps that locate and
display hotels and published prices or, for Name Your Own Price® hotel
fans, recent winning bids for specific neighborhoods throughout the city.
Priceline’s Price Maps
http://travela.priceline.com/travelguides/HotelPriceMap/
expand on priceline.com’s commitment to find travelers the best hotel
deals available. "Price Maps give travelers an instant birds’ eye
view of a city, showing them where they can find the best value for
their money,” said priceline.com Chief Marketing Officer Brett Keller.
"For published-price hotels, they can quickly see all the price points
and filter the results even further by star level and guest ratings.
Name Your Own Price® hotel fans get a fast picture of what the winning
bids have been in their desired neighborhoods and star levels. We
believe Price Maps will be a big time- and money-saver for
travelers who book hotels through Priceline.”
Priceline.com’s Price Maps are broadly available for thousands of
destinations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central
America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific
Islands. The zoom-able maps, available in traditional "flat” format or
satellite image, allow viewing from an entire city perspective right
down to specific neighborhoods.
Price Maps allow travelers to choose whether they want to scout
hotels on a published-price or Name Your Own Price basis.
-
Published-Price Hotels.
This option creates a form of "heat map”, displaying color-coded price
tags that instantly give a feel for hotel pricing in a city. The tags
show exactly where hotels are located. Scroll over a tag and it will
open a window showing the hotel, its star level, its address, its
price and its average guest rating.
The maps also feature sliders so travelers can broaden or narrow a
search based on desired price, star level and guest ratings. In addition
to hotels, travelers can view locations of local airports, restaurants,
attractions, neighborhoods, and even map a specific address. The
map-based presentation makes it possible for travelers to see exactly
where hotels are, along with their proximity to airports, landmarks,
attractions and restaurants. Click the "book now” button for any hotel,
and viewers will be immediately taken to the corresponding booking page
on priceline.com’s hotel service.
-
Name Your Own Price Hotels.
Switching on the "deals” feature automatically layers onto the map a
collection of multiple successful winning bids made recently by other
priceline.com hotel customers for specific hotel star levels in
particular parts of the city. If you’re not familiar with a city and
are unsure what to bid, Price Maps can provide helpful advice.
This feature is only available in cities where priceline.com offers
Name Your Own Price® hotel rooms.
