Interval International, a leading global provider of vacation services
and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), has
announced the affiliation of ShareLuxe Club. With its first three
properties — two century-old machiyas (traditional Japanese
townhouses) in Kyoto, Japan, and an open-air villa on the Indonesian
island of Bali — ShareLuxe Club presents an inventive take on the
emerging trend for contemporary cultural travel.
"By blending authentic historical and cultural architecture with modern
interior furnishings and luxury amenities, ShareLuxe has established
itself in a new travel niche in two very appealing international
vacation destinations," said Joe Hickman, Interval International’s
executive director for Asia Pacific. "Kyoto is Japan's former imperial
capital and still houses about one-fifth of its national treasures in
its museums and more than 2,000 Buddhist and Shinto temples. And Bali
holds great appeal with its idyllic beaches and lush terraced mountains,
where it has managed to retain an almost mystical spirituality."
ShareLuxe Kyoto Kizashi-Kamishichiken is a fully renovated
century-old Japanese townhouse located in a historic area near the edge
of central Kyoto. Tucked into a street lined with machiyas and
Japanese tea-houses, the townhouse combines traditional Japanese style
with contemporary luxury. Two bedrooms outfitted with western-style twin
beds can accommodate four people. Three more people can sleep in a large
room on tatami mats. The unit has been retrofitted with a modern
full-sized kitchen and amenities that include LCD TVs and studio-quality
audio equipment.
On another quiet street several blocks away, ShareLuxe Kyoto
Kizashi-Shinmachi is close to shops and restaurants, as well as
cultural and historic sites in the heart of Kyoto city. Shinmachi Street
is on the route for the Yamaboko parade during the month-long Gion
Festival in July. The unit has two bedrooms also with twin beds and two tatami
rooms, which can be used as optional bedrooms for four more people. In
addition to its modern furnishings (identical to ShareLuxe Kyoto
Kizashi-Kamishichiken), ShareLuxe Kyoto Kizashi-Shinmachi features an
old-fashioned wooden bathtub.
ShareLuxe Bali Tuka Terrace is just five miles from the popular
tourist area of Kuta and two miles from Canggu Beach. The traditional
Balinese villa has an open-plan design and includes three bedrooms, a
full kitchen, living and dining rooms and modern bathrooms. Along with
an infinity swimming pool and landscaped private garden, the villa has
24-hour butler/maid/security services, cooking service (on request), and
private transportation.
"Our goal is to build an inventory of distinctive properties that blend
rich cultural experiences with 21st-century pampering. We are already
planning a large development on the west coast of Okinawa Island in
Japan, and we also have plans to expand our town house development in
Kyoto," said Hajime Mori, CEO of ShareLuxe Group. "We’re very excited to
welcome Interval members to our properties and offer our Club members
the quality and worldwide scope of Interval International’s exchange
network.”
