SonicWALL Internet Security Appliances Now Rated 'Avaya Compliant'

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SonicWALL Inc. , a leading provider of integrated network security and productivity solutions, today announced that its PRO 4000 Series and TZ 170 Series Internet security appliances are compliant with key Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya , a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.

SonicWALL's Unified Threat Management PRO and TZ appliances provide comprehensive protection against Internet threats at the network gateway, helping businesses establish comprehensive and easy to manage network security. The application now is compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya IP telephony solutions, including Avaya Communication Manager 3.0.1, the company's industry-leading IP telephony software, and IP Office 3.1, a flexible and easy-to-use converged voice and data system designed for small and medium-sized businesses.

SonicWALL is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program -- an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network. As part of an ongoing program, SonicWALL continues to certify its product lines with additional Avaya solutions.

"Through our membership in the DeveloperConnection program, SonicWALL underscores its commitment to the interoperability of our solutions with leading IP telephony products from Avaya," said Mike Valentine, vice president, Americas sales at SonicWALL. "As a result, we can provide our customers a secure VoIP solution offering the highest levels of availability, reliability and quality."

As a member of the DeveloperConnection program, SonicWALL is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. This process allows businesses to confidently add best-in-breed capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure-speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

"By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like SonicWALL who are members of our DeveloperConnection program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available -- getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line."
