Sumitomo Electric Develops Remote Radio Head for TD-LTE Base Stations

Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Tokyo: 5802) (ISIN: JP3407400005) announces the introduction of the TRU2640, its advanced remote radio head (RRH) designed for use in Time Division–Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) networks, following the release of the FRU2180 for Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) LTE networks in June 2011. With a compact lightweight body under 15 kg and 20 L, the TRU2640 has a total output power of 40 W, and helps telecommunications operators reduce both their capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenditures (OPEX).

Telecommunications operators are increasingly required to expand their coverage and capacity to meet customer needs.
