Terremark, a Verizon Company, today announced that it has been
positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the leaders quadrant in the Magic
Quadrant for Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service, 2011 report1.
The Magic Quadrant depicts Gartner's analysis of how certain vendors
measure against criteria for that marketplace, as defined by Gartner.
According to Gartner’s report, "Leaders have distinguished themselves by
offering an excellent service and having an ambitious future road map.
They usually serve a broad range of use cases well, although they do not
excel in all areas, and they are not necessarily the best providers for
a specific need. They have a track record of successful delivery, along
with many referenceable customers.”
For the report, Gartner defines public cloud compute IaaS as "a
standardized, highly automated, massively multitenant offering, where
compute resources, complemented by storage and networking capabilities,
are owned and hosted by a service provider and offered to the customer
on demand. The customer is able to self-provision this infrastructure,
using a Web-based graphical user interface (UI) that serves as an IT
operations management console for the overall environment; API access to
the infrastructure may optionally be offered as well.
"Cloud computing in the form of IaaS is transforming the way enterprises
and government agencies procure, provision and deploy their IT
resources, and we believe that our unique set of assets position
Terremark as a clear leader in this evolution in the industry,” said
Kerry Bailey, president of Terremark. "The combination of Terremark and
Verizon’s leading-edge IaaS offerings, and the workload migration
capabilities delivered by CloudSwitch, provide our customers with a
complete set of solutions for their exact needs. We believe the result
of Gartner’s evaluation underscores that our strategic approach to
investing in this nascent market is aligned with where the market is
moving and how our customers are increasingly expecting to leverage
cloud infrastructure moving forward.”
