GBET, a global consortium of telecommunication carriers, announced today
that it has launched its Website to draw attention to the activities of
the organization and find new members.
GBET is a global consortium of carriers working together to set up
standards for the electronic exchange of data in international wholesale
with the aim to reduce administrative costs and the ambiguity of various
transactions (e.g. commitment agreements, disputes, invoices, etc.) As a
result, companies can focus on their core strengths, thus maximizing
revenue benefit from new opportunities, and better manage present and
future challenges and opportunities.
GBET was started by Deutsche Telekom’s wholesale arm ICSS and other
major players of the industry, including Verizon, TeliaSonera, PCCW,
iBasis, and Telarix, in June 2011.
GBET is open to the entire wholesale community. Companies joining GBET
will have a unique opportunity to participate in an industry-wide effort
to simplify and create best practices for the electronic exchange of
business information amongst the international wholesale carrier
community. They will also have the chance to take part in focus groups,
engage with key standards bodies to drive toward "open standards," and
participate in the beta testing of new services.
GBET membership is free of charge and comes without any commercial
obligation.
Margaret Morosi, Head of Global Services at Deutsche Telekom AG,
International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), and 2011 chairperson of
GBET says, "GBET is a perfect platform to shape best practices on the
market and be the key vehicle by which we share, educate, and channel
ideas on automation and streamlining cross-company 'wholesale processes'
throughout the industry. ICSS has taken an active role and is driving
the initiative as this is an excellent opportunity to participate in
finding common industry standards that help to further improve business
efficiency. We look forward to welcoming new members that will get
involved and support our concerns!"
