The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG), today announced
its 2010 sponsorship of Richard Childress Racing’s No. 33 Chevrolet
Impala and driver Clint
Bowyer. For the second straight year, the company is the primary
sponsor of the No. 33 Chevrolet for three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races
and an associate sponsor for the remaining events.
"The RCR sponsorship is a wonderful experience for our customers and
employees,” said Mitch Jawitz, Vice President, The Hartford. "This year,
we plan to offer even more ways for NASCAR fans to get involved with the
racing experience. Just like Bowyer’s pit crew, The Hartford team is
fanatical about keeping our driver’s lives moving forward uninterrupted.”
The Hartford’s No. 33 primary paint-outs will run at Darlington Raceway
on May 8, Pocono Raceway on August 1 and the Auto Club Speedway in
Fontana on October 10. Throughout the race season, the company, which
celebrates its 200th anniversary this year, will highlight
its bicentennial and provide opportunities for fans to engage with the
Richard Childress Racing team. This will include contests, sweepstakes
and giveaways, as well as exclusive promotions for members of The
Hartford Racing Club.
"Celebrating 200 years is a unique milestone and a tribute to The
Hartford’s winning spirit,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of
Richard Childress Racing. "At RCR, we share that spirit with The
Hartford and are pleased to partner with them during their bicentennial
year.”
The Hartford will also be an associate sponsor of RCR driver Jeff Burton
in the Sprint Cup Series. Both Bowyer and Burton will serve as
spokespeople for The Hartford focusing on the auto
insurance program.
"I'm excited to have The Hartford back on the No. 33 Chevy this season,”
said driver Clint Bowyer. "We appreciate all of their support at RCR and
love seeing a sponsor give back to the fans like they do. Hopefully, we
can help celebrate their bicentennial year on an even larger scale with
a trip to Victory Lane.”
2010 marks Bowyer’s fifth full-time season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series and second year driving RCR’s No. 33 Chevrolet Impala. In 146
career Cup Series starts, the Emporia, Kan., native has earned two pole
awards, two wins, 21 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes. Additionally, the
30-year-old driver has nine other victories to his credit in NASCAR’s
two other top-national series.
This sponsorship adds to The Hartford’s list of sports marketing
efforts, which include being an Official Corporate Partner of the NCAA®,
a sponsor of men’s and women’s golf, and the founding sponsor of the
