Standard Insurance Company ("The Standard”), a subsidiary of StanCorp
Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE:SFG), announced today it again exceeded the
industry average and received a majority of very satisfied and satisfied
ratings — the highest ratings possible — for the key satisfaction
measure "overall handling of claim,” as reported in a recent third-party
survey of group disability claimants. This is the second time in a row
that the company has exceeded the industry average for this satisfaction
measure in both the short term and long term disability claims
experience categories. The research is conducted on a biennial basis by
JHA, a leader in disability and group life market research.
"We are very pleased that we have topped the industry averages for
several claimant satisfaction measures in this year’s JHA report,” said
Jackie Willingham, vice president of Benefits for The Standard. "Our
positive ratings reflect our claims management expertise and dedication
to meeting the needs of our customers.”
In addition to exceeding the industry average for several key
satisfaction measures in the short term disability claims experience
category, The Standard surpassed the industry average for 23 of the 24
key satisfaction measures for long term disability claims experience.
This is the second recent survey in which customers recognized The
Standard’s expertise and dedication to service. Last September, in JHA’s
biennial survey of group disability insurance brokers, the company
exceeded the industry average in a number of key categories, including
"overall experience with the carrier.”
