Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that it has signed a
contract to provide information technology (IT) and application
outsourcing services to the City of Santa Clara, California, a new
client for Unisys.
The five-year contract has an estimated value of approximately $20
million. The city can extend the contract for an additional two years at
its discretion.
The Unisys services will support 15 city departments, administrative
offices and utilities, helping more than 1,000 end users serve the
city’s 117,000 residents more effectively.
"The City of Santa Clara has a new vision for the way IT can add value
to the business of municipal government,” said Gaurav Garg, director of
information technology, City of Santa Clara. "We want to see IT
management services and expertise available on demand, wherever and
whenever needed, to serve continually changing initiatives and
public-service priorities. We believe that Unisys, as our services
partner, will provide the innovation, flexibility and thought leadership
needed to help us create and refine this new model. As a result, we
expect to operate more productively, strategically and cost-efficiently,
and adapt more readily to the changing needs of the city and its
citizens.”
Under the contract, Unisys will provide a full range of IT management
and support and application services for the city government, including:
-
IT management and support, including data center and network
management, 24-hour service desk, equipment provisioning and
maintenance, and deskside services. Infrastructure monitoring will be
provided through Unisys Converged Remote Infrastructure Management
solution, which provides a single, consolidated view of the IT
infrastructure;
-
Application modernization and support, including Web development and
architecture services. These services will help the city rationalize
and consolidate its application environment, and make it easier for
citizens to request services and do business with the city over the
Web; and
-
Departmental IT solutions and cross-functional services. These
services are intended to make city departments more efficient,
integrate IT infrastructure and link interdepartmental applications to
streamline government operations.
"Unisys is proud that the city of Santa Clara has selected us as its IT
services partner,” said Sam Khanna, vice president and managing partner,
North America, Unisys Global Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services.
"We have decades of experience helping public sector organizations use
technology to serve citizens more cost-effectively, and we look forward
to supporting the city of Santa Clara in achieving its public service
goals.”
