Two keynote presentations will highlight this year’s VOICE Technical
Program, a users group meeting and partners conference organized by
premier semiconductor test company Verigy (NASDAQ:VRGY), on April 13-15
in Carlsbad, California.
The first keynote, titled "Business Lessons from a Mission to Mars,”
will be given by Brian Muirhead, former project manager of NASA’s Mars
Pathfinder mission. Muirhead will discuss how the combined power of
people, technology and innovation yielded historic success and initiated
a new era of deep space exploration. He will explain how this
interplanetary mission was completed on time and under budget by using
imaginative new ways of conducting business, a people-oriented
management style, and a score of practical solutions that semiconductor
executives can use immediately.
The recipient of two NASA Outstanding Leadership Medals, Muirhead
recently completed his assignment as the chief architect of NASA’s
Constellation project, a new program with the objective of establishing
a permanent base on the moon and preparing for human exploration of
Mars. In that position, he provided leadership for developing and
maintaining a viable architecture for human exploration beyond the
Earth’s orbit. Previously, Muirhead was chief engineer of JPL (the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory). He has written High Velocity Leadership
and, along with Gar and Judy Reeves-Stevens, is a co-author of Going
to Mars.
The second keynote, titled "IC the Future,” will be given by market
researcher and analyst Bill McClean, president of IC Insights. McClean
will share his informed perspective on what tomorrow holds for the
global semiconductor industry. Leveraging his 30 years of industry
experience and expertise in predicting the semiconductor business’
cycles, he will discuss the current state of the market and which
segments are poised for double-digit growth. In addition to quantifying
his market forecast, McClean will address current trends in the
electronics industry and macroeconomic influences including worldwide
GDP (gross domestic product).
McClean’s company, IC Insights, covers global economic trends,
semiconductor market forecasting, capital spending and fab capacity
trends, product market details, and technology trends, as well as
complete IC company profiles and evaluations of the end-use applications
that drive IC demand. Before forming his market research firm, McClean
worked at ICE Corp. for 17 years, including the last 10 as vice
president of market research. He is a well-known authority on market and
technology analysis and forecasting, specializing in tracking global
economic conditions, developing IC market forecasts, analyzing capital
spending and wafer fab capacity trends, researching application-specific
IC (ASIC) markets and technologies, and following semiconductor markets
such as cellular phones.
"While covering diverse subject matter, this year’s two keynotes provide
directly applicable information for all semiconductor industry members
in attendance,” said EAG (Evans Analytical Group) Labs’ Mary Israni,
chairperson of the VOICE 2010 program committee. "These presentations
nicely complement the 66 technical presentations, panel discussions,
kiosks and one-on-one meeting time that make VOICE the industry’s
foremost IC test conference.”
In addition to the two keynote addresses, VOICE 2010 will feature
technical presentations by Verigy’s customers, strategic partners and
in-house experts; panel discussions; kiosks staffed by product experts;
and a one-day, hands-on workshop for test engineers. For complete
program details, visit www.verigy.com/go/VOICE2010.
This year’s conference is expected to attract more than 300 test
engineering and management professionals from more than 50 companies
around the world, including foundries, fabless semiconductor companies
and integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) as well as Verigy’s strategic
partners.
About VOICE 2010
Managed by a steering committee of volunteer representatives from Verigy
and its customers, VOICE is the leading conference for the growing
international community of Verigy V93000, V5000/V6000 and V101 customers
and partners. It offers a unique opportunity to make users’
semiconductor testing operations as effective as possible. Attendees
gain and share valuable insights, build long-lasting relationships and
learn what’s new about Verigy’s products and applications. Early
registration is now available online for $300 until February 24. After
that date, the cost to register online will be $350, or $400 at the
door. Interested attendees may register for VOICE 2010 at www.verigy.com/go/VOICE2010
or by contacting mktgcomms@verigy.com.
