Wavion Selected by a Leading Carrier to Provide Broadband Access to 1,000 Villages in West China

Wavion™, a company transforming the Metro and Rural Wi-Fi market with a new category of Wi-Fi Base Station, and BHU, Wavion’s distributor in China, announced today the selection of Wavion’s Wi-Fi base stations for the broadband access coverage of 1,000 villages in West China for a Leading Carrier.

The broadband access is provided by a mix of Wavion’s 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz base stations and is providing voice and data services to SME and residential customers in these villages.

The award was facilitated by BHU. "This project is a major breakthrough to the Chinese market," said Mr. Yao Yongxin, General Manager of the Wireless Division at BHU. "After a careful evaluation of all the competing solutions, we have selected Wavion’s solution because of its unique and powerful beamforming technology which enables a carrier-class quality at a cost-effective price."

Wavion’s unique and powerful WBS-2400 and WBS-5800 spatially adaptive beamforming base stations provide extended range, higher throughput, and much better NLOS coverage. As a result, unlike conventional access points, it does not require costly high towers and can be easily installed on rooftops and still provide extended and homogeneous coverage with Indoor penetration. Moreover, its flexible architecture built around two types of base stations – omni-directional and sector – and its rugged weather-proof enclosure add significantly to its unique value offering to Telecommunication operators.
