Xcel Energy Inc. Board Declares Dividend on All Outstanding Preferred Stock, Increases Common Dividend 2.97 Percent, Declares Dividend on Common Stock

The Xcel Energy Inc. (NYSE: XEL) board of directors today declared regular quarterly dividends on all series of outstanding preferred stock, which are payable on July 15, 2011, to shareholders of record on June 23, 2011.

The board also raised the quarterly dividend on the company’s common stock from 25.25 cents per share to 26 cents per share, which is equivalent to an annual rate of $1.04 per share. The board declared the second quarter common stock dividend payable July 20, 2011, to shareholders of record on June 23, 2011.

"The board recognizes the importance of the dividend to our shareholders. The increase in the dividend is consistent with our goal of growing the dividend 2-4 percent annually,” said Richard C. Kelly, chairman and CEO.
