Zhone
Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZHNE), a global pioneer in FTTx network
access solutions, announced today that Mark
Twain Telephone Company (Mark Twain) is deploying Zhone's
industry-leading MXK™
intelligent terabit access concentrator to enable Digital Subscriber
Line (xDSL) connectivity to its 5,000 access lines in northern Missouri.
"As part of our upgrade and rebuild of two telephone exchanges earlier
this year, we’ve been continually impressed with the functionality and
stability of Zhone’s MXK platform,” said Bill Rohde, general manager of
Mark Twain. "Alongside upgrading to a 10 gig transport network, we are
also deploying new access technology to provide high-bandwidth
connectivity to our subscribers and position the network for fiber
expansion in the future, in a cost-effective manner. After our lengthy
internal testing, we were convinced of Zhone’s ability to provide us the
most robust and carrier-class platform for our needs. We have been
highly impressed with Zhone’s product offerings and their overall
commitment to making our deployment successful as we upgrade service to
our 5,000 access customers.”
Increased bandwidth demands are now remotely managed by the MXK
platform, giving Mark Twain residential customers the high bandwidth
connectivity needed for a multitude of next-generation services. The
MXK's ability to support high-speed xDSL connectivity enables Mark Twain
to design its network for maximum flexibility and efficiency. The MXK
delivers fundamental advances in access networking, while meeting Mark
Twain’s baseline carrier-class requirements for multi-service offerings
and provides the migration to future fiber connectivity when needed.
"Zhone’s solutions ensure unmatched performance, network control,
efficiency, scalability and flexibility for our customers and their
subscribers’ bandwidth demands,” noted Brian
Caskey, chief marketing officer, Zhone. "The partnership with Mark
Twain illustrates the increasingly impressive and customizable
high-density broadband capabilities of the MXK – and the reason why
Zhone continues to be a top choice for service providers in the US and
globally. Utilizing our deep industry experience, we ensure that Mark
Twain is ready for cost-effective fiber expansion in the future.”
To date, Zhone has deployed more than 2,600 of its fully redundant,
carrier-grade all-IP MXK platforms with more than 150 service providers
in more than 40 countries globally. Zhone's MXK platform is a fully
redundant, carrier-grade all-IP platform and the industry’s first
terabit access concentrator. Featuring industry-leading density,
scalability and switching capacity, the MXK provides non-blocking
