CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- American liquor makers posted another strong year in 2011, with healthy increases in volume, revenue and exports, according to data released Monday by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States. Total volume grew 2.7% to 198.5 million 9-liter cases while revenue was up 4% to $19.9 billion. Exports soared 16.5% to $1.34 billion. Vodka accounted for 32% of total volume, an increase of 5.9%. Irish whiskey, a category dominated by Diageo and Pernod Ricard , was the fastest-growing category with a volume spike of 24%. Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey, most of which is made and marketed by Beam [S: BEAM], Brown-Forman and privately-held Heaven Hill, was up 3.9% in volume to 16 million cases.
