Arbitron Appoints New Chief Technology Officer to Senior Executive Team

Arbitron Inc. (NYSE: ARB) has appointed Taymoor Arshi as its new senior
vice president and chief technology officer. Dr. Arshi replaces Ron
Kolessar who will retire this summer after 42 years of service to
Arbitron and its predecessor companies.
"Dr. Arshi brings a breadth of experience in
the technology areas critical to Arbitron’s
future –software and hardware engineering,
multimedia, telephony & IP based software, wireless communications
platforms, Internet/Web – and others,”
said Steve Morris, chairman, president and chief executive officer,
Arbitron Inc. "In addition to his strong
technical skills, Dr. Arshi is a seasoned manager, strategist,
entrepreneur and leader.” "Dr. Arshi will help Arbitron harness the
widening array of technologies – both hardware
and software – that are transforming the
media, marketing and research industries. His deep technical
understanding of technology and its applications to business will be
important in directing Arbitron’s strategies
and resources in this rapidly evolving arena.”
Dr. Arshi will report to Owen Charlebois, president, Technology,
Research and Development and will be based out of the Arbitron Research
and Technology Center in Columbia, Maryland.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Arshi has held various roles in the
engineering and operations departments at Intel Corporation, most
recently as general manager, Manageability & Platform Software Division.
During his tenure, he secured several patents for computer-based video
conferencing and led many of the company’s
product development labs worldwide.
Dr. Arshi received a master’s degree in
computer science from the University of Southern California in Los
Angeles and a doctorate in computer science from Oregon State University
in Corvallis, Oregon.
