EXETER, N.H., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bentley Pharmaceuticals, Inc. , a specialty pharmaceutical company, today announced that it has been named to Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 50 Program for New England, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation's leading professional services organizations. Rankings are based on the percentage revenue growth over five years from 2001-2005.
John A. Sedor, President of Bentley, credits expansion of the Company's revenue base beyond Spain, the country where the majority of the Company's net product sales originate. Mr. Sedor commented, "Over the past few years, we have aggressively sought new markets for our portfolio of products. Product sales outside of Spain have grown from approximately 2% of our total revenues in 2001 to approximately 22% in 2005. We also grew revenues through the validation of CPE-215(R), one of our drug delivery technologies. CPE-215 has been incorporated into Testim(R), a testosterone gel launched by our licensee in 2003. Since then, Testim has captured 18% of the testosterone gel market."
Based on a 270% increase in revenues from 2001 to 2005, Bentley ranks 47th among the Technology Fast 50 companies in New England. The average increase in revenues among companies that made the Technology Fast 50 for this region was 1,825%.
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2001 and $5,000,000 in 2005, be headquartered in North America, and be a company that owns proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.
Winners of the 16 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are eligible to be entered into the Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies.
