Vignette
(NASDAQ: VIGN) and Bon Secours today announced they have recently
completed the initial rollout of a new system that will provide Bon
Secours Health System physicians and employees with faster access to
patient information through a comprehensive electronic medical record
(EMR). The Health System, headquartered in Maryland, uses Vignette IDM
to capture and digitize paper and other unstructured patient information
and index the content to supplement their electronic patient record, Bon
Secours ConnectCare®. The system is being implemented across
Bon Secours Health System facilities throughout Virginia, South
Carolina, Kentucky, New York and Maryland.
"Vignette enables us to digitally capture and manage a variety of
unstructured clinical documents such as administrative documents,
consent forms and external patient information and link them directly to
the patient information in our new Bon Secours ConnectCare®
system,” said Laishy Williams-Carlson, CIO at Bon Secours Health System.
"Combining this information with patient metadata already stored
electronically gives our healthcare providers more timely and secure
access to critical patient information, driving improvements to the
quality of care we provide to our patients.”
The Bon Secours ConnectCare® system is designed to improve
the quality of care throughout its hospitals and physician practices by
providing physicians, nurses and healthcare providers with quicker and
easier access to patient information. Bon Secours completed the initial
phased Bon Secours ConnectCare® deployment in Greenville,
S.C., and plans to complete full implementation in the winter and then
roll out the system in its remaining hospitals.
"Vignette
IDM, as with all our Imaging and Workflow solutions, enables
organizations across a variety of industries to capture, manage and
deliver any type of content to a variety of channels,” said Dave Dutch,
senior vice president of products and marketing at Vignette. "The true
value of the content is realized when the information is made available
online. Better access to this information can lead to improved patient
care, improved patient and physician support and more opportunities for
customer self-service.”
