Barbara Shuttleworth is a sensible woman who appreciates a good deal.
So, when she saw an opportunity to enter Charter’s
Save Green, Go Green Sweepstakes to win a 2009 Honda Civic
Hybrid, she did.
And this afternoon, the St. Charles, MO woman who has "never
won anything” in her life, will take the keys
to that new hybrid automobile worth $24,000 from Charter President & CEO
Neil Smit and drive it home.
The semi-retired Mrs. Shuttleworth, who provides administrative support
part-time for local companies, had just driven her 10-year-old Ford
Taurus home Wednesday afternoon when she received a call from Charter’s
Online Marketing Director Jim Gallagher, who designed and directed the
contest that ran throughout the month of October.
"When he told me I had won the car, I couldn’t
believe it,” said Mrs. Shuttleworth. "I’ve
never won anything and to win a car is very exciting.”
Mr. Gallagher was just as excited to give the hybrid Honda away. The
winning customer’s name was randomly drawn
from among 124,063 Save Green, Go Green Sweepstakes entrants.
"Mrs. Shuttleworth has been a Charter
Communications customer since 1998 and she knows a good value when she
sees one,” said Mr. Gallagher.
The St. Charles resident is a Charter Triple Play customer who has
Charter’s Digital Cable, Telephone and
High-Speed Internet services. "Winning the
Charter sweepstakes not only adds value to being a Charter customer but
will help save on gas and help the environment, too,”
said Mr. Gallagher.
"I have an HDTV and really enjoy watching
high-definition programs on Charter,” Mrs.
Shuttleworth said. "It spoils you for
anything else.”
According to the winner, she had been thinking about her aging
automobile. The grandmother of four loves a road trip with her daughter,
who lives in the area, and she makes trips to Houston, TX to visit her
daughter and family and other family members in the Midwest.
"Sometimes, I procrastinate doing something,
but I’m glad I entered this sweepstakes right
away.”
