Chemtura Increases Prices on Blendex(R) Products

Due to the continuing and rapid escalation of the cost of key raw materials, particularly butadiene, Chemtura Corporation (NYSE:CEM) will increase prices of its Blendex® products globally, by up to $3.53/kg (approximately 25%) depending on the grade. The increase is effective September 1st 2008 or as contacts allow. Consistent with previous announcements, Chemtura has eliminated extended price protection for these products, and all formula pricing will be subject to monthly adjustments. Furthermore, due to critical shortages of butadiene in North America, Chemtura has declared a Force Majeure event with respect to all butadiene containing Blendex® products sourced from North America and will be taking steps to apportion available material fairly and appropriately among its customers.
