With Kentucky Derby® 135 on May 2, 2009, quickly approaching, Churchill
Downs racetrack and the 2009 Kentucky Derby Chief Party Officer, Nick
"RiNickulous” Ferrera, today announced the availability of the Official
Kentucky Derby 135 Party Playlist.
"If you’ve ever been to the Kentucky Derby then you’ve heard ‘My Old
Kentucky Home’ at least once, but let’s face it, it’s not exactly a song
that you can ‘rock out’ to,” said RiNickulous, the newly minted Chief
Party Officer for Kentucky Derby 135. "You’ve got to have the right
soundtrack to set the mood, and the folks at Churchill Downs helped me
hook up Derby fans with an official party playlist that includes new
takes on our favorite Derby song, plus a bunch of brand new party tunes.
So, even if you can’t make it to the Derby in person this year, you can
still ‘Party Up At the Downs’ because we’re supplying you with all of
the songs you need to throw an awesome and authentic Derby party
anytime, anywhere!”
Created by Churchill Downs and Banshee Music, the complete soundtrack,
consisting of 11 original tracks and five new versions of "My Old
Kentucky Home” in various styles and genres, is available for purchase
through iTunes, Amazon.com and at TheDerbyStore.com. The soundtrack also
offers three songs that pay tribute to the Kentucky Oaks (companion
event to the Kentucky Derby) and three toast-themed songs celebrating
the Derby’s signature cocktail, the mint julep.
The album can be purchased in its entirety or as individual song
downloads priced affordably at $.99 per song. Derby fans can also sample
the entire playlist by visiting the official CPO and Kentucky Derby
Party Web sites (www.chiefpartyofficer.com
and www.kentuckyderbyparty.com),
which provide easy links to purchase digital copies of the songs.
Free downloads of the official infield anthem, "Down and Derby,” will
also be available for a limited time with purchases of specially marked
Mountain Dew cans.
