The Kentucky Derby is often referred to as an event you "gotta see to
believe,” but not everyone can attend the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports
every year. That doesn’t mean you can’t bring the Derby home! This year,
Churchill Downs, the legendary racetrack that hosts the annual "Run for
the Roses,” is hosting the "Bring the Derby Home” sweepstakes, where one
lucky fan will win the ultimate Kentucky Derby Party.
By registering on KentuckyDerbyParty.com or through the Facebook fan
site, Derby fans can be entered for a chance to win a fully catered
Kentucky Derby party for 20 guests, including a Toshiba flat screen TV
and other prizes worth more than $3500 (no purchase necessary; see www.kentuckyderbyparty.com
for a complete list of prizes and rules). Sweepstakes ends Friday, April
24th.
But Kentucky Derby-lovers can do more than just win prizes; they can
also use the site and the Facebook page to register their own official
Derby party for free. In fact, more than 14,000 fans in 70 countries and
6 continents have already registered their Kentucky Derby party and many
more are expected to follow suit before the big day.
The site also features tips for throwing a Kentucky Derby party, plenty
of recipes and menu ideas from Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay, examples of
Derby hats and fashion, and a social networking platform with blogs,
photo and video uploads – which can be utilized all year-round. The site
can even be used to organize other social gatherings, such as birthday
parties, happy hours and reunions.
With more than 23,000 having already been sent, the custom electronic
invites available to all registrants are another big draw for fans. The
official host of the Kentucky Derby Party program, Bobby Flay, is also
getting in on the action. Party hosts and hostesses can send a
customized message via phone or e-card to their guests from Bobby Flay
himself!
