Clear Channel Radio’s Total Traffic Network
(CCTTN) today announced that it has expanded its relationship with Mio
Technology, a leading worldwide supplier of personal GPS navigation
devices, for an additional two years. Under the agreement, CCTTN will
provide reliable, real-time traffic data to Mio personal navigation
devices. Additionally, Mio will be supporting their new products with an
advertising schedule on Clear Channel Radio stations.
"When we first chose Clear Channel’s
Total Traffic Network as our provider of real-time traffic, we looked
for a service that could provide accurate, up-to-date information,”
said Kiyoshi Hamai, Senior Director of Sales & Product Management Mio
Technology for North America. "The service has
exceeded our expectations and we have seen a 512% explosion in growth
from 2006 to 2007 in the number of personal navigation devices and are
number four in both market share per units and in total
Dollar volume.
We know our customers are happy, which is why we are extending our
current relationship.” "Using a network of reporters, traffic
cameras, imbedded speed sensors, police scanners, and mobile reporters
that compile real-time traffic, we control all of our content with
strict operational processes to ensure the greatest real-time traffic
service possible,” said Jeff Littlejohn,
Executive Vice President of Distribution Development for Clear Channel
Radio. "We value our relationship with Mio
and are thrilled to be working with them into the future.”
Mio Technology will include either one year or lifetime traffic
subscriptions with all of their traffic enabled products. In March, Mio
announced a host of new devices that were the first set of technology
products to incorporate software developed internally, using design
content proficiencies from the recently-acquired Navman. Emphasizing
straightforward navigation at an affordable cost, they included Mio
Moov200, 210, 300, and 310. These products are being advertised on Clear
Channel Radio stations in thirteen markets, which also include traffic
sponsorships, online digital schedules, and sponsorship opportunities
for CCR station promotions in various markets. The spots will run
through August of this year and then into the holiday season.
Clear Channel Radio’s Total Traffic Network
will be available for all Mio navigation products in the same 80 North
American markets in which it provides real-time traffic information for
a breadth of consumer electronics devices and for in-car navigation
devices in select BMW, MINI USA, and Volvo models. The company also
supplies traffic content to media outlets such as Citadel Broadcasting,
Univision, Fox Interactive Media, and others.
