Cooper Industries, recognized for its leadership, expertise and
innovation in the industrial market, debuted a comprehensive electrical
training course at its Houston-based technology and training facility on
April 14, 2009. The course was attended by 24 Houston-area distribution
professionals, and spanned the entire breadth of Cooper’s vast
electrical offering. The seminar, entitled Basic Electrical Product
Solutions, represents a culmination of the initial vision for the
company’s new industrial-focused training facility, with content from
Cooper’s seven electrical divisions.
"A primary objective of the Cooper Technology Center is to utilize our
robust, end-to-end product offering to deliver content that makes a
difference in the businesses of our customers,” said Cooper CEO Kirk
Hachigian. "This all-encompassing training seminar allows us to deliver
critical and comprehensive education to distributors, EPC professionals
and end-users alike, exemplifying Cooper’s stability and unique
innovation, leadership and expertise in the electrical industry.”
The full-day course featured a mix of division-specific presentations
and hands-on training exercises, focusing on Cooper’s unique blend of
electrical offerings while utilizing the entire state-of-the-art
facility.
"The activities and training courses were extremely informative,” said
Jason Mallett of Summit Electric Supply. "The instructors were very
knowledgeable, and did an excellent job of determining the varying
levels of industry experience within the group, and tailoring each class
to fit the needs of each participant.”
With registration limited to 24 spots, space for the initial seminar was
at a premium. Due to the tremendous interest in this offering, Cooper
plans to offer the course several times throughout the year, with the
next course slated for July 2009.
Strategically located in Houston, which is home to some of the world’s
largest consulting engineering firms, and the heart of the U.S. oil and
petrochemical industry, the facility caters to a large number of
Houston-based professionals and organizations.
"During a period of increased budgetary and travel restrictions, this
facility offers a unique venue for us to provide a one-stop shop for
electrical training and expertise,” said Jeff Fowler, Director, Cooper
Technology Center. "One would require several trips across the country
to achieve the same depth of industry-specific knowledge that we have
achieved right here in Houston. The central location allows us to
deliver solutions and education on emerging technologies and products
specific to the needs of industrial markets while keeping the expense of
training and travel to a minimum.”
