Daimler has said it has sold more cars in 2012 than ever before in its company history, primarily boosted by strong demand for luxury cars in the US and China, Reuters has reported. Between January and December 2012, Daimler's passenger car division sold about 1.42 million vehicles, the Stuttgart-based luxury carmaker said. Alongside Mercedes-Benz, Daimler manufactures top-of-the-range brands AMG and Maybach, and the smart city car. "In spite of difficult market conditions in southern Europe, and a series of model changes, we were able to surpass
record sales posted in 2011," said Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche.
