Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that
four floors of Daktronics video boards and one monochrome digital
display will wrap the corner of the historic crossroads of Broad and
High in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Broad and High Multimedia LLC, a joint
venture of a real estate organization and a media advertising firm,
recently awarded Daktronics the contract to supply the video technology
that Anheuser-Busch, AT & T, NBC 4, Huntington Bank, Nationwide
Insurance and other advertising partners will use to reach the tens of
thousands of people who pass the location every day.
This exciting urban redevelopment project combines cutting-edge digital
technology with the historic center of one of the fastest growing cities
in the nation. Broad and High Multimedia LLC’s
transformation of the corner intersection across from the Ohio state
capitol building includes premier retail, commercial and residential
space. The buildings will provide the media infrastructure for Daktronics’
digital technology, supplying a vibrant and exciting marketing and
promotional platform.
"Daktronics looks forward to working with
Broad and High Multimedia LLC and architectural firm Glavan Feher on
this redevelopment project using our digital technology to shape the
urban landscape. The project redefines downtown Columbus, Ohio, by
bridging a gap between modern sign technology and historic structures,”
says Steve Bayer, Daktronics commercial project development.
Digital technology is transforming public settings. In the past, people
saw the city core changed and enriched by digital screens only at unique
locations such as Times Square or Piccadilly Circus. Now, technology
used for both commercial and non-commercial purposes reshapes more and
more urban areas. Designers and architects in Europe and China use
architectural facades as platforms for decorative, informative or
marketing purposes, to display art, breaking news or traditional
advertising. Urban studies experts recognize Columbus as an emerging
global city. The innovative Broad and High redevelopment project
confirms this recognition.
ProStar® technology,
HD-ready and available only from Daktronics, uses the latest in red,
green and blue LED technology to present live and recorded video images,
animation and graphics with wide-angle visibility. The new video display
operates with the Daktronics proven Venus® 7000 controller.
