Dassault Systèmes (DS)
(NASDAQ:DASTY)(Paris:DSY), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle
Management (PLM) solutions, today announced the availability of the
ENOVIA Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Accelerator™
for Global Specification Management. Designed to simplify the management
of design specifications for products spanning multiple brands and
markets, the solution will enable companies to more effectively manage
regulatory compliance and operational costs while bringing products to
market faster.
"Mechanical products have been best served by
PLM to date. While applications have existed to manage other domains,
they have not been as well integrated into a PLM environment,”
said Jeffrey Hojlo, research analyst, AMR Research in the recently
published "PLM Top Business Drivers for 2008”
report. "CPG, pharmaceuticals, and chemical
industries have unique requirements, including formulas, recipes,
packaging, and artwork. These domains have distinct applications and
business processes from their mechanical brethren, requiring domain
expertise and supporting applications.”
The introduction of the CPG Accelerator leverages Dassault Systèmes’
recently announced V6 platform to offer customers a single, scalable PLM
platform incorporating standardized business processes that will enable
more effective management of mission critical intellectual property.
Based on a service oriented architecture (SOA) the CPG Accelerator will
also support greater online creation and collaboration within key
functions like engineering, manufacturing and product management helping
to lower total cost of ownership by increasing efficiency and reducing
time to market.
"With the advent of global sourcing, a
geographically dispersed workforce, and extensive product portfolios,
there’s no doubt that CPG companies face a
complex and challenging business environment,”
said Ray Wodar, director of CPG Industry Solutions, ENOVIA, Dassault Systèmes.
"A dedicated CPG Accelerator enables CPG
companies to manage product complexity by standardizing the
specification management process, which will help to define the complete
product record, promote greater supply chain collaboration, and ensure
regulatory compliance.”
By implementing the ENOVIA CPG Accelerator for Global Specification
Management, CPG companies will be able to achieve the following benefits:
Reduce the Number of Regulatory Compliance Systems
Consolidate disparate documents/data systems used for product
development with a single, global, and validated process-driven system
of record.
Lower Raw Material Costs
Standardizes material specifications across Brands, Regions and
Categories to create an efficient procurement process that drives costs
down and margins up.
Reduce Cycle Time
Focus early in the product development processes to positively impact
downstream decisions and performance related to product development
calendars, material trends, cost, and quality decisions.
Enable Low Cost Labor Centers
Global virtual work teams can track all Product Specifications,
approvals and responsibilities in a single system integrated with all
other aspects of product development.
Continued Wodar, "The ENOVIA CPG Accelerator
for Global Specification Management offers companies a highly
configurable solution that can be deployed rapidly to maximize
productivity and this forms the foundation for our CPG focused
application strategy. This is just one example how we are bringing
industry best practices to a rapidly deployable solution.”
The ENOVIA CPG Accelerator for Global Specification Management is
available immediately and will be compliant with the recently announced
V6 solution from Dassault Systemes.
