DivX, Inc. (NASDAQ: DIVX) and Vuze, a rapidly growing open entertainment
platform for professionally produced content with an established
audience of more than 16 million users, today announced an agreement to
create a Vuze service to distribute premium content via DivX ConnectedTM,
a solution that provides consumers with easily accessible high-quality
digital media content and services through a variety of consumer
electronics devices.
The online Vuze service offers a rich depth of video content, including
a large amount of HD content. Leading international content brands,
including A&E, the BBC, National Geographic, PBS, and Showtime, as well
as hundreds of premier production studios and thousands of maverick
content creators distribute shows through the Vuze platform. Selections
from the Vuze library will become available to DivX Connected users,
extending the Vuze experience beyond the PC and into the living room.
The first DivX Connected device available to consumers from D-Link is
presently for sale online in the UK, France, and Germany and will be
released in the US later this year.
"Vuze is an open platform for the distribution
of high quality premium entertainment content, and we are thrilled to
give our users the ability to watch that content the way they choose,”
said Gilles BianRosa, CEO of Vuze. "Because it
is high resolution, Vuze content looks terrific on a large screen. DivX
Connected provides a great way to extend the Vuze experience beyond the
PC.” "Innovative companies like Vuze are
demonstrating the disruptive nature of online video distribution,
especially when combined with Vuze’s
outstanding roster of content creators,” said
Jerome "Gej”
Vashisht-Rota, Co-founder, Vice President & Group Business Manager,
Media Experience, at DivX, Inc. "Vuze and
DivX Connected make a great team to bring truly compelling content to
the living room for a powerful cinematic experience.”
