EFI (Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in customer-focused digital
printing innovation, today announced the appointment of two executives
-- the new general manager of its Fiery® division, Toby Weiss, and new
general counsel, Bryan Ko.
Weiss comes to EFI from Application Security, a leader in global
database security software, where as president and CEO he was
instrumental in leading them to new growth and profitability. Prior to
this role and for more than 12 years, Weiss held numerous senior
management positions with Computer Associates (CA), one of the world’s
largest IT management software companies. His tenure there included
growing new business, and culminated in his role as senior VP and
general manager responsible for development, strategy, product
management, marketing and support for the 800-person, $400M+ Security
Management business. Weiss holds a bachelor’s of science degree from the
University of Michigan in computer science.
"Toby’s diverse experience in strategy, business development and market
leadership complements and strengthens EFI’s senior management team,”
said Guy Gecht, EFI CEO. "Toby’s successes in software development,
product management, and sales and marketing give him a well-seasoned
perspective for his new role as Fiery GM where he will be key to
maintaining Fiery’s position as the world’s most popular color
management and workflow solution.”
As general manager of the Fiery Division, Weiss is responsible for
financial performance, bringing new products to market, driving
operational excellence, cultivating key partnerships, and building brand
equity for EFI’s flagship product line. He reports directly to Gecht.
"EFI is a pioneer in the digitization of the print industry and joining
the EFI management team is an incredible opportunity,” said Toby. "I
look forward to leading such a talented group of professionals who
support one of the strongest brands in the print industry.”
In addition to selecting Weiss as Fiery GM, the company has recently
promoted Ko to EFI’s general counsel position. Ko has been part of EFI’s
strategic relations team since July 2000.
"The position required a high caliber attorney to manage EFI’s legal
affairs worldwide, and Bryan will do a stellar job leading EFI’s legal
efforts through the current economic climate and recovery phase to
follow,” said Gecht.
Prior to joining EFI, Ko was an attorney at the international law firm
of Shearman & Sterling LLP. He received his juris doctor from the
Rutgers School of Law and earned a master’s of business administration
from University of California’s Hass School of Business. He reports
directly to Gecht.
