Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:CCO), today announced that
its new digital billboard network servicing the Baltimore market will
display "wanted”
messages and recruiting information for the Baltimore Division of the
FBI, expanding the reach of this important law enforcement tool to more
of its digital locations across the country. At a press conference held
at the FBI Baltimore Division’s headquarters
today, the FBI along with city, county and state law enforcement shared
details on how emergency information will be disseminated via the three
digital billboards located in high-traffic areas reaching over 200,000
adults in the area daily.
"As this versatile, digital technology has
proven successful in apprehending criminals across the country, we’re
pleased to launch the initiative here to enhance public safety in
Baltimore,” said Amy Jo Lyons, FBI Special
Agent in Charge.
Now in 24 markets with over 250 total displays, Clear Channel Outdoor’s
digital billboard networks are being embraced rapidly by many municipal
governments as the technology affords transportation agencies, police
departments and other emergency services an extraordinarily effective
means of quickly reaching people away from their homes with important
public safety messages. Immediate notification of severe weather
conditions, highway closures due to traffic incidents, disaster
preparedness needs, or AMBER Alerts for missing or abducted children,
can all be delivered to tens of thousands of motorists in real time by
utilizing digital billboards.
"Nine months into our national program with
the FBI, we’re now also starting to help
inform the public of the FBI’s top 10 most
wanted on digital displays across the country,”
said Paul Meyer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Clear Channel
Outdoor. "Our partnership with the FBI to use
our digital networks to assist in the apprehension of fugitives and
provide other critical security messages is a logical extension of this
indispensable community service tool now reaching the traveling public
on a national level.”
