Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE:ROH) said today that Fluor Corporation
(NYSE: FLR) has been awarded a contract to act as the Project Management
Consultant for its Saudi Acrylic Monomer Company joint venture with
Tasnee and Sahara Olefins Company (TSOC). Fluor also has been awarded
the Process Design Package for the plant to be built in Al Jubail, Saudi
Arabia, and work is under way.
In April 2008, Rohm and Haas and TSOC announced that they would form the
joint venture to produce 250,000 tons of acrylic acid and related esters
at a site in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This venture is scheduled to start
up during 2012.
Saudi Acrylic Monomer Company will be 75 percent owned by TSOC; 25
percent by Rohm and Haas. When completed, the plant in Jubail will
employ approximately 225 people.
