Genesis Bioventures, Inc. (GBI) (OTCBB:GBIW) today announced that it has
completed its planned name change of the corporation to Abviva, Inc.
Genesis Bioventures changed its corporate name to Abviva, Inc. to
emphasize its mission to commercialize the Mammastatin Serum Assay ("MSA”)
and to pursue development of the mammastatin protein as a possible first
line therapy against breast cancer. The name change was approved by the
shareholders at the 2007 Annual Shareholders Meeting held on September
14, 2007 as part of the Company’s completion
of its reorganization and restructuring plan.
"We determined that the Company requires a
name that represents its mission and commitment to the mammastatin
technology for breast cancer diagnostics and therapeutics,”
said Douglas C. Lane, President and CEO. Abviva is a name inspired from
a Latin phrase meaning ‘From Life’.
Mammastatin is normally present in healthy women and therefore comes
from life. This technology is used to develop and offer innovative
diagnostic and therapeutic products ‘For Life’,
beginning with the Mammastatin Serum Assay.”
The Company will continue to be traded under the ticker symbol GBIW on
the NASD OTCBB market. The Company has applied for a new ticker symbol
representative of its new name. Abviva will announce the new ticker
symbol when it receives notice from the regulatory agencies. The Company’s
new website is under construction and will be available at www.abviva.com.
